How To Play Battlestar Galactica Online

You'll have fun as you learn how to play Battlestar Galactics Online which is based upon the popular reimagined series. Once you join the website you can pick either the Cylon side or the Colonial side and begin play. You'll start with a simple tutorial mission which is easy to complete. • Intercept Enemy Patrols: Shoot down enemy NPC ships but not drones.
• Disable Weapons Platforms: Shoot down weapons platforms, not recommended for new players unless you can find some help.
• System Patrol: Go to the system indicated and fly around until mission completes.
• Drone Clearance: Shoot down drones assigned to you.
• Salvage Recovery: Gather the blue rectangular cargo boxes found near debris fields.
• Tylium Extraction: Mine Tylium.
• Asteroid Recon: Scan asteroids you don’t need to shoot them.
• Titanium Extraction: Mine titanium.
• Disrupt Enemy Operations: Kill a set amount of game players and not NPCs.

In your base ship on in outposts you'll find in other sectors you can buy and sell items. You'll need to go to theseeplaces to get more ammunition, change weapons, and repair your ships after combat operations. You can aslo sell the junk you accumulate from shooting down other ships for money and trade in mined resources too. Each ship has hardpoints and you can attach various pieces of equipment or new weapons to these hardpoints. All cannons and missiles require ammunition so make sure you buy enough of it prior to undocking and going back into space. Sell off any ammunition you don't need for what you want. There are various types of ammunition but some cost more than others. Start with the basic ammunition in the beginning since that will be all you'll be able to afford. You're going to want to save your cash for a new ship later on.

Ship weapons have three ranges which are long range, medium range, and short range, your guns will light up when you are in range of your target. Missiles are more for long range and will lock onto your target but might not hit it. Cannons are straight forward just keep firing until the target is dead. If you have different ammunition ranges change it by right clicking on your weapons and selecting it. Your guns will contiinue to fire until the ammunition is depleted. To stop firing just click the weapon off or hit G to save ammunition. Click the loot window once a target is destroyed to get the items into your hold. In space press the cubits button to buy more ammunition and rearm in space provided you have the cash for it. Use your mouse to pilot your ship it isn't difficult to get the hang of it. Buttons at the top of your screen will chnage your view and arrows are present showing you where enemies are just follow them or view them on your HUD display.

The game has various sectors of varying degrees of difficulty. You'll find the sector map on your display. You'll need Tylium (fuel) to make a jump. Select the sector you want and it will display the difficulty and the money needed for the jump. Note that if you go into enemy trerritory there's a good chance you'll be killed by other players fighting for that territory so proceed with caution. There are a few player protected systems on the map where no one can attack you so level up in those systems first before exploring the map more. Joina group if you want to explore so you'll have some protection.

You can train your pilot in numerous skills such as piloting and gunnery. More skills will unlock as you gain experience but you can't train more than one skill at a time. Cick the skill category to see other skills you can train within that main category. Once you pick a skill you can't cancel it so only train what you want or you'll waste your experience points.

At the main base sector aboard the mother ships you can upgrade your ship systems such as weapons. This is done at the same place where you get ammunition or new ship parts just looking for the flashing gold coin. You'll need the right skills for the upgrades to take place.

Mining is a a simple but boring process to do. Use your scanner first to find out if the asteroid has any available resources and if it does just shoot it until it explodes. Buy mining cannons if you want they don't use any ammunition to get the resources faster. Don't use the mining cannoins on enemies since they are useless be sure to switch back to regular cannons before fighting. Watch out near asteroids since you'll typically find enemies at these locations.
