You'll start by selecting a family to help and then set about building them a dream home. You'll select a home design and blueprint to begin working. You onlt have so much time per family to complete the work so you need to be quick about it. Instead of energy like many Facebook game you'll use volunteers to help you build the home. Adding an item for the home takes a certain number of volunteers. You can buy more volunteers or get some from other friends playing the game. When you level up you'll get your volunteer bar filled up to capacity.

Each family in the game has a set of specific needs. So for example you'll need to provide all the basics such as floors, windows, beds, wallpaper, stove, toilet, sinks and so on. Without these basics your family won't be very happy with their new home and your rating will be poor. Each week you'll find a new family to help out based upon the familes from the television show. Click the family needs at the top of the screen and read about the family you're trying to help. In addition to the basics your family will want some specific items. For example, you might have a family that wan't plenty of wooden furniture or one that needs more baby items. You will also have to try and meet these needs too. You cna reveal your house at any time but you should try and fill all the needs first so your house receive a good rating from the family. Click the scrapbook once you have a house and view all the rooms you've created for the new family.

Building the home is the fun part in this game and you'll have several bare rooms to build. You can't actually build walls or anything you just have to furnish it with items, put down flooring, and get some wallpaper up. Click shop to find the items your family needs. You can of course design the rooms anyway you wish but try to fill the needs of your family first before you add any design extra you might have in the back of your mind. There are several categories of items to choose from such as flooring, windows, doors, beds, tables, dressers, bookcases and so on. Be sure to check the needs of your family and match the items to their needs. Finish one room and then move onto the next one. You have to be quick before the time runs out but you generally have several days to finish the house before you reveal it. You can reveal it at anytime but your score will be low if the house isn't finished.

Once your home is done you can click the reveal button and let your family see what you have created for them. If you didn't finish the house you'll lose some points during the reveal. You can keep building the house past your deadline but you will get bonus points for finishing it on time. Click on the new family and get to know them before picking your next job. You'll have a few families to choose from and the choice you make is up to you.

While you can't control the family in this game. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Game has a distinct Sims feel to it. You'll have fun designing a home and furnishing it with items. The game could use more content but overall it's a good experience. If you like designing and decorating this game will appeal to you. There's not a whole lot of depth to it but what it offers is fun and it's easy to play.
